After many requests we're now offering some of our favorite paintings as high quality matted prints ready for framing.

"The Well Read Raven"

The act of learning can be scary. When you think about, it's a trip into the unknown. But once you get down to the bottom of the unknown the fear is gone. And in this sense, knowledge is home sweet home.
The raven is often portrayed as dark and foreboding. We wanted to turn that idea on it's head. Why can't something that's traditionally sinister be seen as sweet? With rich color and vintage pattern we've recast the age old macabre setting as seen in Poe. The raven atop a stack of books, complete with a well melted candle in a perfectly tarnished silver candlestick. There's nothing scary about a raven who wears a turquoise/aqua silk ribbon and jingle bell around it's neck. He also seems to have brought along a tiny bouquet of millinery flowers just to assuage your nervousness even further. We flip for the aesthetics of Halloween and get those good chills when harvest season approaches, so this type of imagery is right up our alley. But in truth, we had a year round display in mind. This will hang above our mantel always, because it's color and pattern work so well with our theme.

This painting is the second in a series. The thread that will tie them all together is this select color palette of turquoise, tan, mocha, pink, black, sepia, parchment, chocolate and some hints of berry and aqua. With these new works we're aiming at a more 1930's-40's Grandma's attic type of vintage. Making use of our favorite collectibles and aged wallpaper patterns.

This is a high quality print of our 100% original painting. The printed image measures 11" x 14" within a 16" x 20" off-white shadowbox style mat. It's printed on archival paper and comes to you in a protective cellophane sleeve. All prints are signed and dated.
